Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
A peanut butter banana sandwich was one of my top 3 favorites growing up. This Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is a nod to that sandwich and sort of a treat in the morning, making the start of the day a little more bearable. (I add a little matcha tea powder to mine and cannot taste the difference but I didn’t put that in the recipe below.)
A smoothie like this is more portable than a banana and a jar of peanut butter. To me, it’s better than skipping breakfast because I get reeeeeeally hungry and overdo it when breakfast is missed. It’s less food (calories, etc) than a bacon egg crispy burrito, my current favorite weekend breakfast made by my daughter. And I can add coffee if I really want to kick things up a notch.
I cannot say enough good things about smoothies. They really work to my benefit, keeping me satisfied and getting a few more servings of foods that seem to help fuel my body. They save me from eating things that slow me down. Or weigh me down. I’m a big fan of smoothies. Use the recipe below as a guide. Be sure to check out my other smoothie recipes (link below). I highly recommend the beet smoothie! Coming from a beet hater, that’s saying something.
- ½ large banana or one small banana
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 handfull cashews
- ½ cup milk or non dairy milk add 1 tbsp if it's too thick
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- ¼ cup uncooked old fashioned oats
- Add all ingredients to blender cup. Blend and enjoy!
I put some oven roasted peanuts atop this smoothie and I do like the crunch so I recommend it.
